This Page will be soon updated with the purposed Disc Dog State Championship Points Race once we find out which clubs (and hopefully all of them) that host their state's championship officially join in.
Hello,
I am contacting you and your disc dog club, with this canned message, to join in on a fun challenge for disc doggers that won’t require much work at all for any of us, but add another facet to the disc dog sport in the US.
My idea is to contact every organization that hosts a “State Championship” disc dog tournament in the US no matter what format the organization has chosen and ask them to participate in this. I think there are at least ten state championships.
The competition would be to give “State Championship” points to the top finishing handler/dog teams at all the State Championship events. At the end of the year when the last State Championship points come in we can add up all the teams’ points and award the winner and runner-up on all of our behalf’s with a quality trophy and some recognition. This would make it like a points race for all the State Championships and possibly encourage more participation in our events.
For each State Championship the points break down would be:
- 1st = 15
- 2nd = 12
- 3rd = 10
- 4th = 8
- 5th = 6
- 6th = 5
- 7th = 4
- 8th = 3
- 9th = 2
- 10th = 1
Depending on the competition format of your State Championship it would be entirely up to you and your club on what division or over-all scoring team would earn these points. But I would suggest the points go to your top division and/or to your over-all point scorers.
Then you would just send me the results and I will make a page and keep track of the standings on my new website http://discdogevents.com/index.php and on your websites too, if you wish. I’m not hogging this idea I just want to add some more fun.
I ask that all clubs interested promise to chip in $20 paid before October of this year to a fund that will purchase the two trophies and maybe some prizes or donation to the winners’ local shelter.
I will be more then happy to take care of the paperwork and trophy buying and shipping. I do believe the State Championship I am hosting on October 9-10 is the last one of the year and I can announce the winners there in front of a disc dog crowd.
I would like your input and questions soon; as it would be nice to announce this before the first State Championship. Otherwise let me know if you are in or out.
Thank you,
Adrian Custer
