Added in 2015: A Senior Division for dog handlers over 50 years of age (the AARF Leauge)...But seriously folks, come out and play, we now have a fully featured division dedicated for disc doggers who need not act their age
Added in 2016: A beginners, youth, and recreational division called "Division 3".
What: A disc dog (Frisbee dog) competition that is open to the public. This competition will be hosted by the St. Louis Disc Dogs. There will be Division 3 (Beginners and Youth), Novice, Senior (50 and Older), and Pro divisions so all skill levels can join in on the fun. If you have a dog that can catch a disc, or at least tries, then you are ready to be a competitor in the fun and growing sport of Disc Dog.
If you want to be entertained by the fun filled and family friendly event, you are in luck, Free Parking and No Charge for any and all spectators. You are welcome to come and cheer on the dogs as they make their handlers look cool. Bring lawn chairs, blanket, canopy, picnic basket, etc.
Where: Gray Summit, MO (30 miles East of Dowtown St. Louis on I-44) At the beautiful Purina Farms on the Flying Disc Field located West of the Purina Event Center. 300 Checkerboard Loop, Gray Summit, MO 63039.
Why: Because it is fun. The Disc Dog Sport doesn't require a lot of money, it exercises your dog while you play; did I mention fun? St. Louis Disc Dogs encourage first time competitors to come out, we all started that way. Come and play with us, join our club for its benefits, but only if you want to, no pressure and no prejudice here.
What to bring: All dogs must be leashed! You can also bring a canopy and set it up by the field. Bring lawn chairs, a cooler with drinks and lunch if you like. Bring a tie-out, crate, Ex-pen for your dog/dogs while they are not leashed or competing. Bring water for your dog. Dress for the weather and prepare to be outside for a while.
What NOT to Bring: Dogs that are in heat. Dogs that may have a contagious disease, all dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. There is no perimeter fencing around the competition field, if your dog is prone to running off, this type of competition is not for you. Do not bring a bad attitude, this stuff is fun.
